Wild Coho Salmon

Scientific Name:  Oncorhynchus kisutch
Market Names:  Coho, Silver Salmon, Jack Salmon

     Coho (Silver) Salmon have bright silvery sides  with small black spots on the back and upper lobe of  tail while in the ocean. Spawning adults have dark backs and  head with maroon to red sides. They also develop a large kype (hooked beak) during spawning   Adults range from 8 to 12 lbs  and 24 to 30 inches in length.Lifespan average is 3-7 years of age. The flesh color of the coho salmon ranges from  pink to red-orange. Some males (called jacks) mature and return after only 6 months at sea at a length of about 12 inches, while most fish stay 18 months before returning as full size adults.
